First Impression: Fantasy, weirdly fascinating, attention grabbing title, isolation, sinister, life/death!
After Reading: Plot: all my questions were answered but I wanted to know about Hunter more, it could have gone into more detail of his true self. I believe in ghosts and stuff but I didn’t know they had so much power which is fascinating. 4 out of 5!
Characterisation: the characters were all believable, I especially liked the characters of Hunter, Brandon and Jonas as Hunter was so cold but inside he was portrayed (once) a loving person, Brandon because of how he cared for Darina and stood over her like a protective brother, and Jonas because I liked his description and if he was real or if a film was made he would be really cute! 5 out of 5!
Language/Writing Style: the language wasn’t really difficult to understand but it was fun to see the techniques the author used to portray the different groups of characters and stories all revolving around the death of Jonas (mainly). The Vocabulary was very clearly thought out and carefully chosen. Eden Maguire is a great writer, I’m not saying this because it has a great storyline but because of the clear and well planned structure. 5 out of 5!
Appeal: I really enjoyed this book, its one of the best I’ve ever read, it’s aimed at 11+ because of the ages of the characters and the language and violence included. People my age would love it because its about the supernatural! 5 out of %!
Overall mark: 19 out of 20!
This was a really good book, I felt as if I was right there on the scene when Jonas’ dad commited suicide, and all the rest of the book. I was really glad to find out that Matt kills himself in the end, I was also happy to find out that Jonas could rest in peace as Darina worked out that Matt killed him. I was also nearly crying at the intense moments hoping that it would all turn out alright! I can’t wait to read the next book. I would reccomend this book to anyone of any age( but only if they are the type of books you enjoy reading!) xxx <3
Beautiful Dead is a mysterious story guaranteed to leave you on a cliff-hanger.
The story is about the greif-stricken girlfriend (Darina) of Phoenix Rhor who died after mysteriously being stabbed.
More than one of these sudden tragic deaths have happened in Ellerton,3 more in fact, which adds up to a total of 4 deaths during one year.

After reading the novel Beautiful Dead by Eden Maguire, I felt the book was fascinating and romantic, because of the bond between Phoenix and Darina . I think this is a novel you could be hooked on to and will be sure to read the next books in the series. I would give this book 9 out of 10 as it caught my eye from the very beginning. It was so exciting, after I’d read the first two chapters I had to carry on reading. The novel didn’t really focus on one character in particular, because it kept on adding more characters as you got into the book. As you got further on it became clearer which the main characters were and who were just extras to add effect.
After reading Beautiful Dead I felt a swarm of emotions fill my head. I felt like I was in the scenes. This book is fantastic and I would give it 8 out of 10. I based this decision on the fact that the description of the language was creative and the emotive structure of the book.

Beautiful Dead is an amazing book by Eden Maguire. I am sure this book is going to be the book which is going to win the 2010 book award. When I first read this book I had so many questions that I needed to ask. For instance, how didn’t Darina die? Why was Hunter stopping time? Why was Jonas the first one to die and Phoenix the last one to die? Was there a coincidence? This is probably how I kept on reading! I can’t wait until I read the next book and wonder how good it is going to be or is it going to be good enough? I will have to see when I read the book.
This book is really interesting and it caught my imagination. I couldnt stop myself reading it. I can’t wait till the next one comes out. This author is very interesting. I think that this book is very interesting and very imaginative. I also think that the author could maybe make it a little more imaginative. I think that this author was born to write.
