The Carbon Diaries 2015.AWESOME BOOK! ’s 2015, and the UK is the first nation to introduce carbon dioxide rationing, in a drastic bid to combat climate change. As her family spirals out of control, Laura Brown chronicles the first year of rationing with scathing abandon. Will her mother become one with her inner wolf? Will her sister give up her weekends in Ibiza?
In these dark days, Laura deals with the issues that really matter: love, floods and pigs. The Carbon Diaries: 2015 is one girl’s drastic bid to stay sane in a world unravelling at the seams. Makes me wonder what will happen to us in 5 years time. The author described everyones feelings which made me understand the book more. Laura's life changes when the UK starts a rationing system. It felt as I was in the scenes. It was realistic. Definitely an exciting book! The blurb wants you to know more about this book. 8/10

well to start with....By 2015, global warming is a reality no one can ignore. And unfortunately for 16-year-old Londoner Laura the UK becomes the first country to suffer from carbon rationing. For Laura this means cutting down on her band practice and taking the bus to school.
Carbon dairies 2015 is a striking book. What’s so striking and successful about the Carbon Diaries 2015 is the way the big problems are connected to the little problems. The book is Laced with humour and written with a lightness of touch it is page-turning stuff but with a serious message.
One of the most intriguing things about carbon dairies is that some of the situations in the book are so close to reality. For example when there is snow and there is no grit to put on the road disaster strikes and people get stuck just like the current year when our county was running out of grit to put on our road and motorist were getting held up in the traffic because of the heavy snow falls and the slippy roads.
My favourite part of the book was near the end where she and her friend kissed (he boy friend, he was a boy not a girl!) I liked this bit because in the middle of all these terrible things there was this new beginning created.

I thought that this book was so tragic, but at the same time it makes you wander if that's what is going to happen to us in 5 years time(which is not very long). The language was easy to understand, but putting the swearing in it makes you visualise a different, but real world. I think that when you read the first couple of chapters it is very important for the author to describe the world they are trying to describe, so the reader will start to believe that this book is believable. Even though this book is about the future I think that the aurthor has managed to do it well and also the way the feelings are described is phenomenal because you can feel them with the character as you go along. When I was reading this book and at one moment I wasn't sure that the characters were going to make it through. I must say that this book was very emotional and phenomenal o read.

Some parts of this book are good because the writer gave the charachters lots of different charateristics and the writer made the characters really confused about relationship. However, the bad thing is that it contains too much slang words and not appropiate words.

First impression: after 2012, tragedy, carbon dioxide rations, greenhouse gas emissions, love, floods, pigs, relationships.
After reading: Plot-Laura’s relationships were really cute but it was very predictable that in the end Laura was going to get with Adisa. Their band the ‘dirty angels’ was so cool and there sort of music was really relevant to me. It was really exciting so a real page-turner. The topic was weirdly cool and interesting. 5 out of 5!
Characterisation- it was really sweet that Laura was so closely attached to a pig which is absolutely repulsive but O.K if you’re someone who likes pigs. I actually was attached to the main character as it was a diary so it was quite personal, Laura was a caring person but it was like she had had enough. 5 out of 5!
Language/writing style- I loved the pictures and the way it was structured like a diary. The factual information was of extreme accuracy and the use of words was really conveying so it kept me reading. 5 out of 5!
Appeal- I found this book really interesting and I simply love it. It was assort of tragedy but I had fun reading it. It’s aimed at 11+ because of the foul language (swearwords), the characters personalities and the vocabulary. I can’t wait for r the sequel! 4 out of 5!
Overall the grand total is 19 out of 20!

I loved this book. It is a really relevant book as it is what might happen if we don't go straight. i enjoyed it because it is about our age group and the characters have dreams like real people. I like how it all seems hopeless and they turn it around and pull together and get through. I normally bang on about swear words in books but it is good how the author knows how to use them and it feels like an actual conversation. It is a good book for 9-14 year olds and I hope it wins. 8/10

Carbon Diaries is about a girl named Laura whose life completly changes when the UK starts a rationing system and everything starts going wrong. The boy that Laura is in 'love' with turns out to be just a distant friend. Her parents are thinking about divorcing and her older sister,Kim, is hanging around with the totally wrong crowd. What can Laura do when London is going through a drought and then a flood? Can she rely on her best friend Adi, her old neighbour Arthur and her band, The Dirty Angels, to help her cope through difficult situations?

I enjoyed this book and it kept getting more and more exciting. It's a real insight into a teenager's mind when the things we take for granted start to become scarce.
