Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean by Justin Somper
Connor and Grace are twins, recently orphaned after their widowed father’s death.
Rather than being adopted by the town’s busybodies, they decide to set sail for new pastures in their father’s last single possession, his sailing boat.
But a vicious storm sees their boat capsize and the twins are separated. Two mysterious ships sail to their rescue – each picking up one twin before disappearing into the mist.
Connor wakes to find himself on a pirate ship and is soon being trained up with a cutlass. Meanwhile Grace finds herself locked in a darkened room, as the vampirates wait for night to fall and their feasting to begin.
Determined to find each other, yet intrigued by their new shipmates, the twins are about to embark on the biggest adventure of their life.

I think the idea of the vampirates was wicked, I actually couldn’t put the book down. It was so interesting and it was really fun to read. I loved Lorcan Furey’s character so much, his character was really nice but the ending was quite sad. I liked the idea of vampires and pirates put together it made the story look a whole lot different. I hope there are other books about the Vampirates because I loved every bit about it. The idea of the twins was quite a twist, because most of the times it's only friends who get stuck on a island n stuff, but that idea was out of this world because the twins were separated not together. This idea was totally fantastic I hope to see more books about the Vampirates!

I recently wrote a review but im doing another one with improvements….....A never before seen idea. The cover of the book is intriguing with a fantastic story to tell inside, about two twins Grace and Conner tempest, who have recently lost their father, and set out to sea for new hope when they become shipwrecked. Both are rescued by passing ships (read the book to find out what happens next) Grace is instinctive and intelligent, whilst Conner is a natural athlete. Definitely not recommended for the faint hearted. A must read for anyone seeking an awe-inspiring adventure. An absolute thriller and great read.

The book was fantastic. I can not say how much I loved the book. The way the characters all suited the part they had. Lorcan is caring and gentle. The captain is mysterious yet trustworthy.Grace is just your average girl with that extra special touch and the same goes for Connor. Also Cheng Li is like someone I know. Very stubborn yet loyal and she does alot of thinking. I can not wait for the next book in the series to come out!! The author should be really proud of all the hard work he’s put in to making this book because it really has payed off !!! I hope that his next one will be just as good as his first !

This book is an excellent read and perfect for people interested in fantasies and adventure. It is rather thrilling, but sad in some parts. This is a good book for children and adults aged 9 and over.

I think this is so great. I loooooooooove it. It is really interesting. I think Lorcan is nice ,kind ,sweet, caring and lovely. If iI was Grace I would’nt mind being stuck with him and his safety rules, because I trust him. I also think Cheng Li is kind. I feel sorry for her, I could imagine the captain treating her like dirt, well she is not. I do understand that she didn’t do what she had to do. I think Connor is quite charming.
