Fur by Meg Harper
Grace has always loved the sea, and feels drawn to it more and more as she passes her 14th birthday.
On dry land she is confused by her strange, vivid dreams, her demanding swimming coach, the attentions of the gorgeous Nik Bentley…
And then there are the worries about the unique downy skin that she constantly tries to hide – what will people say it they realise she has fur growing all over her body?
Ultimately it is the sea that holds the key to Grace’s startling personal mystery.

Fur is fun and easy to read. At first it describes a girl with unique problems going through puberty but near the end it changed to a fantasy style book. I think that I liked the first part better as the sudden twist at the end surprised me.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s so different how the girl has fur. Untill the very end this seems like a story that could happen in real life but at the end it suddenly turns into more of a fantasy book. I really think Meg Harper should write a sequal to Fur as I think a lot more could happen in the story. My favourite characters have to be Grace, Matt and Grace’s Dad. These are my favourite characters because they seem so calm. I love the seal/Grace’s Mum as well but there’s not much of the book that she is in. I love her because she tried her best to stay on land with Robert (Grace’s Dad) but she couldn’t cope and went back to the sea. She also promised that she would come to Grace if she ever needed her and she kept her promise.
I give this book 9*********out of 10

I loved this book it is full of mystery and magic. I'm only 15 and understand this girls feelings. I have spent most of my childhood life with strange and mystical creatures (even though others don’t belive the things i’ve seen), though the only criticism I can make is that it is not enough to completely spark my imagination.
