After a rather shaky start, that almost put me off reading it, I think that this book really improved during the middle. It was not quite what I expected from the cover and blurb as it seemed more like an Indiana Jones adventure towards the end involving Aztec gold and tombs. I enjoyed reading this book and I am surprised that it’s not on the shortlist.

Thieves Like Us was an outstandingly good book. It has all the different qualities that I like in a book and more.I think that Thieves Like Us should of gotten through to the final 6 because of the way Stephen described it and the way each of the characters had their own unique skill. I liked it how Stephen described their pasts aswell, and how the character Coldhardt accepted them, but also sort of used them for their skills. Also i liked how they were all living the high life and getting paid for something that they are good at and they enjoy. Overall I would give this book a deservable 10/10

Thieves Like Us was about a boy called Jonah who is suddenly rescued from his detention centre by a group of teenagers with amazing skills. He was rescued because of his fascinating skill with computers, codes and technology, and this gang of teenagers, led by the mysterious Coldhart, need him for a new challenge. The group are thieves who are looking out to a mysterious object, but none know what it really is, but there are enemies after the thing too.

This book was interesting as it was not quite was I expected. It was grittier and the atmosphere was not as exciting as I’d expected. The book swore much too much, much more than was necessary, and the magic at the end was confusing and strange, though it did seem to fit with the story.

Overall this book was a little boring though the characters were great. I give it 8/10 and recommend it to 12 to 15 year olds.

theives like us was a really cool book it made you belive in it until it threw in an aztec curse and then it became completely unbeliveable .however this book was extremely well written. i hope theres a more beliveable sequel , marks:7/10

Thieves like Us is an incredible book.
An almost scientific book of ingenuity, the story follows 17 year-old Jonah, a boy already suffocated by the natures of law and being held within a Young Offenders Institution. He hates the world and can’t wait to be free from his cell room and psychotic in-mates. But questions the chance of freedom when it comes only six months into his sentence, in the forms of Tye a smuggler from Haiti, Patch a lock picker, driven from home when his unstable mother cost him his eye, Con a orphaned hypnotizer and Motti a security professional who undid his companies own security. Then together they seek a power almost greater than god, eternal life, although this blessing doesn’t come without its price.
I really loved the technicality of Thieves like Us and found that Stephen Cole’s description of their break in methods and ancient ciphers was breathtaking with a fantastic, almost projection of imagery. I also love the fact that the story shows that for wealth and riches you have to work so hard and that even when the risk is greater than its results, the team try their luck.

i really liked this book cos it has more codes and stuff. but try to cut the swearing Stephen.
